I Am a Proud Non-Smoker

While I was getting ready to leave work this afternoon, my mind began to drift to my walk home and the cigarette I was going to smoke, when all of a sudden I thought "Damn't! That's right! I don't get to. Crap."

And then I remembered S' words of wisdom. "I am a proud non-smoker." I chanted it all the way home. It totally helped too.

Today was not so bad. Fine, actually. The walk home was the only real craving. I'm still kind of dealing with it. I will probably go clean something shortly.

Last night a friend of mine told me that they say when you quit smoking you get 2 hours of your day back! Two hours! Between the 5 minutes or so that it takes to smoke each cigarette and the time it takes to buy them etc., 2 hours. I figure since I smoked (past tense!) about 1/2 a pack a day, I'm saving myself like an hour a day. Which is kind of cool. More time to clean stuff.

  1. I really like your new mantra and am thrilled to hear you made it through the day. I've always been told the worst time is during the work day since you're used to taking smoke breaks. Just remember, one step at a time :-)

I have a feeling your place is going to be sparkling clean by Monday. Once you run out of things to clean there, I have plenty you can work on here. I just don't have the patience to do all the detail work!

  2. You can thank Sadie (and Miles) for the mantra. My tub is already sparkling. I plan on hitting the fridge tomorrow. It really does need a good cleaning out and this is a good a reason as any to do it.

Thanks for all the support. It really does mean a lot.

  3. Hooray!! I'm glad to hear you're doing well and that the mantra helped. It helped Miles a lot too.

Stay strong, you've already got the worst days behind you. And enjoy that sparkling house...if you run out of stuff to clean I know a nice dirty house only a couple hours north of you. I would make that sacrifice if it helps you.

  4. I could just see me all showing up on your doorstep looking like a junkie, with my mop and broom. "Hi. I've run out of stuff to clean." hee hee.

I'm sure you all don't want minute by minute updates, but today, another good day. This isn't so bad. Please do not remind me that I said that when it is that bad. Thank you.
